WEEK 6 | Photographics
This week’s task was to create design and digitally composite an abstract composition using Adobe Photoshop.
Firstly, I got outside to take some photos for project. I took a lot to have variety of thing to choose from. My personal goal was to make simple yet eye capturing narrative.

After, I made two projects, since I got inspired by multiple photos at the same time.
First time trying collage using Photoshop and photos from internet:

First idea: “Alone in the woods”.
Original photos:
Pre adjustment:

The idea of the image is a loneliness. I wanted to create a forest around one silhouette of a person, making it a ghost in a lonely forest.
I played around with layers, levels and contrast to create multiple versions.
I chose this version since in was the most interesting. It illustrates my idea the most with depiction of the white silhouette that reminds people of ghost like persona. It is surrounded by woods going through unknown place that strangles the space around person.

My second idea “Glass stairs”:
All photos used:
For my final idea I chose 2 photos of buildings and one with a crowd, from which I cut one person out that could match my idea. I came up with composition while observing and rotating each photo.

My idea was to show objects and turn them into something else, creating illusion. One building transformed into staircase, while other became abstracted background looking like glass, mirror ocean. The person in the composition is aligned to be walking up on stairs. I wanted to add human figure to image to suggest the scale, how big is overall objects around them. Audience automatically put themselves in the position of the human figure, making it easier to trick into thinking of my created illusions. Staircase as well as person, both have darker tones of black, also, with applied contrast, while building on the back don’t have these features. It is to separate foreground and background, making them distant.

I am pleased with the final work overall, since it created the melancholy, sense of loneliness in the modern city world, that I wanted to show. The only problem, was to choose which work to showcase, since I made two.
