WEEK 8 | Sound
This week’s rotation was to record and create sounds for animation.
Firstly, we created short 20s video with 10 different sounds that expresses “Inside to Outside”:
I gave me inspiration for my final project. I chose 3 main sounds to use in project and a couple of supporting ones to use together with main sounds. I recorded sounds around me and chose the one that reminded me of something else.
I separated video in 3 sections, 3 worlds and stories which are illustrated in sounds.
1 – Sound of hanger on an iron bar, that I associated with a sound of knife sharpening.
2 – Chicken fried in a pan, sounds like rain, that I at the end combined with sound of pigeons I found in the park.
3 – Short piano music, combined with sound of my boiler to then create the illusion of radio.
All recording were put in Premiere Pro and adjusted. I reduced noise in all recordings for them all to be as clean as possible. Then I imagined scenes in which this sound may exist in, and adjusted them accordingly to suit the story. I played with “Reverb”, as well as other sound effects for making radio sound. I mainly just played with various audio effects that can be used in Premiere Pro to see which works for me. For the weapon sharpening scene I used mainly reverb for small room.
At the end I created little supporting Gif illustrations to support sound project. First is about kidnapped main character that sits in the apartment of kidnapper listening of kidnapper’s cold weapon sharpening. The second illustrated person under the rain. Furthermore, the third shows woman sitting on the chair behind radio that transfers music.
